Developing clean industry across the region

India is benefiting from the ITA’s ability to mobilise business, finance, government and civil society leaders to speed up the shift to clean materials, chemicals and fuels.

The Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) is a global multi-stakeholder platform, managed by Mission Possible Partnership, to fast-track decarbonisation in energy-intensive industry and transport sectors. The ITA works in partnership with key players on-the-ground in India.

Unlocking India’s clean industrialisation opportunity

India’s clean industrial pipeline is the joint third largest globally, representing an opportunity to emerge as a global leader in clean industry

In November 2025, the ITA, launched its India Project Support Programme which will help support a first wave of India’s clean industrial projects to final investment decision (FID). As part of its initial analysis, more than 65 potential projects have been mapped across sectors such as aluminium, steel, cement, chemicals (ammonia and methanol), and aviation to identify those with the potential to reach FID and evaluate the barriers holding back progress.

India report | ITA

India’s industrial transition is central to both its growth objectives and the wider global decarbonisation effort. With one of the largest project pipelines worldwide, the challenge is no longer vision – it is execution.

The India Project Support Programme will focus on unlocking demand, de-risking finance, and fast-tracking projects that can define India’s leadership in clean manufacturing.

India’s commitment to build clean now would not only benefit the country domestically but also assist global momentum.
