Clean industry: redrawing the map

Global Project Tracker update Nov 2026

• China is home to 1 in 2 of the world’s clean industrial plants
• A record 36 FIDs in 12 months
• A step change for the new industrial sunbelt as capital hits six projects
• 1,027 projects in development, worth $4.8 trillion in investment potential
• Sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) accounts for one in three major investments

Clean industry: redrawing the map

Clean industry has moved from the drawing board to the construction site and the world’s industrial map is shifting. China and developing economies together secured more than $50 billion of this year’s investment, as cheap renewable power decides where clean industry gets built.

The sixth edition of the Global Project Tracker is now live. Explore the analysis to see where projects are advancing, what early successes reveal about how to scale faster, and the six acceleration levers that can take the world from tens to hundreds of financed plants each year.

Emerging economies from Brazil, Egypt, Kenya, Paraguay, South Africa and Thailand have secured their first wave of commercial-scale final investment decisions (FIDs). China financed a further 23 of the 36 new plants and now hosts one in every two clean industrial plants that have reached FID. Five-year plans, a domestic market for alternative fuels and an expanding emissions trading scheme are behind this lead. The total number of projects at FID now stands at 99 with 89 operational clean plants worldwide.

Global opportunity

More than 800 projects are in development across 70 countries, representing a $4.8 trillion of investment potential and a pipeline big enough to take clean commodities to a market share big enough to trigger tipping points. Explore the analysis to see where projects are advancing and what early successes reveal about how to scale faster.

Mission Possible Partnership | MPP

Mission Possible Partnership (MPP) is an independent non-profit organisation advancing global clean industry transformation. Since 2019, we have been working with some of the most energy-intensive industries: aluminium, aviation, cement, chemicals, shipping and steel, to cut their nearly 25% of global GHG emissions.

We mobilise business, finance, government and civil society leaders to speed up the shift to clean materials, chemicals and fuels. Having charted sectoral pathways to net-zero, we continue to forge new territory, lifting the barriers to enable a critical mass of clean industrial projects to break ground by 2030.

Mission Possible Partnership has people and partners on the ground in North America, Brazil, Europe, the Middle East, North Africa, India and Asia Pacific.

Industrial Transition Accelerator | ITA

The ITA is a global multi-stakeholder platform -managed by Mission Possible Partnership – to fast-track decarbonisation across heavy-emitting industry and transport sectors.  It aims to significantly grow the pipeline of commercial-scale, clean industrial projects to reduce emissions by 2030.

Build Clean Now | BCN

Build Clean Now is a global campaign bringing together governments, companies and finance to accelerate the pace at which clean industrial projects are financed and built, year-on-year. It is led by the Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) and Mission Possible Partnership (MPP).
